Derrick pastored a church in Birmingham for 30 years. During that time, he regularly travelled into communist Eastern Europe and also established The Christian Workers Programme, a church-based ministry for local, UK and foreign people setting out in Christian work. Having gained an MA degree with the University of Wales, he travelled internationally for two decades teaching in Bible Schools and churches. After the end of the Covid pandemic, he earned a doctorate in divinity (DD), following which, for some years, he presented teaching sessions on a Christian radio station. Derrick’s first wife Barbara died from pancreatic cancer and Derrick married Hilary over in 3 years ago.
Hilary and Arthur Jones met in Derrick’s home over 50 years ago where the Fellowship met together. Derrick married them and sent them to India with “Interserve.” Later they worked for the Lord in Nepal in Christian education. They returned to the UK and worked in Bolton in the Muslim community. Following Hilary’s marriage, she now works in Alum Rock with an Interserve team reaching Muslim women.
Hilary has been regularly visited North India and Nepal since 2004. She currently supports several rural schools and a training ministry in village Nepal. She also supports a number of young people in education including some that the New Light Nepal anti-trafficking Organisation works with in the Terai region.
Together, Derrick and Hilary visit the church in Albania each year as well as making visit to India and Nepal. Derrick is currently teaching in five different churches in the UK and overseas on the Biblical doctrine of the heart.
