In early summer of 2023 Stephen, Sarah and their three young children moved from their home in Liverpool, UK, to Konjic, a small town between Mostar and Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During their time training at Cornerstone Bible College in the Netherlands, the Onn family spent six weeks in Bosnia and Herzegovina and it was during this period that they met a church planting team based in Konjic. It proved to be a rich time of blessing and cemented bonds of friendship and fellowship that opened the door for them to move there this last year.
They have gone to join a small church planting team which had come into being after an Albanian pastor and his family came to the town over ten years ago. They have been working faithfully in this predominantly Muslim town with another British woman.
Stephen and Sarah are examples of those who walk by faith, not by sight. They are confident in God’s care for them as they step out into the unknown.
Shortly the older two children will be starting at the local school, so language learning is currently the major focus for all the family. Yet even at this early stage there are opportunities to speak with various people (in English or with a translator!) who are often very interested to understand why they have moved there.
The family feel very much at one with the other church members, where Stephen has been asked to regularly preach – though it will take some time before it will be in Bosnian!
